Under Kentucky law (KRS Chapter 286, Subtitle 9) the service fee on a deferred deposit transaction may not exceed $15 per $100 advanced, plus a $3 database fee; combined open proceeds are capped at $600 and a customer may have no more than two open transactions at a time. Representative example: a $300 advance for 14 days carries a $45 service fee, for a total of $345 due – an APR of about 391%. Pawn loans are governed by KRS Chapter 226: interest may not exceed 2% per month, and if a pawned item is not redeemed or renewed within the redemption period it may be forfeited, with no further amount owed.
